Oakley Prizm buying guide
Just like a pair of sunglasses, Oakley Prizm goggles adjust the colours you perceive. Many years of research have led to the creation of lenses that offer an impressive control of light transmission. Colours are optimized to accentuate the contrasts and enhance your vision in a vast array of conditions. Prizm technology also highlights the details for better versatility. Of course, the lenses filter 100% UV light as well.
Manufacturing standards are very demanding, but that’s not a problem for a brand that works in close collaboration with the US military. Goggle lenses must be extremely resistant and withstand impacts from projectiles or tree branches for example. All Oakley Prizm goggles meet these high standards and Oakley sunglasses are also available with Prizm technology.
Prizm lenses cover a broad spectrum of uses. As of today, there are 12 different PRIZM tints. The category 4 Black iridium lens for extremely bright light conditions. The category 3 Dark Grey lens to be perfectly protected on sunny days. Most of the Oakley range is made up of category 2 lenses as they are the most versatile: Sapphire Iridium, Argon Iridium, Torch Iridium, Pink Gold Iridium, Sage Gold Iridium, Garnet and Pink. The Hi Pink Iridium and Permission lenses are category 1. These two options are ideal on cloudy or snowy days. Finally, the category 0 Clear complete this wide range of lenses by being totally transparent for night use or in very low light conditions.
Finally, Oakley has added Iridium to give it a mirror effect, which reduces the amount of light that can enter for superior versatility. Always at the cutting edge of technology, Oakley has developed its own machine to inject the Iridium directly into the material instead of just coating it on it for better scratch-resistance and durability over time.
