Once within 3 m of the victim, a fine search is initiated to pinpoint the location, followed by probing and shovelling to free the buried person. The interactive guidance and probe indications facilitate each phase of the search.

The Barryvox S2 uses the Auto-Select function to guide the searcher to the strongest or nearest signal, and the reverse direction function prevents 180-degree search errors.
